How Do I Set Up Photographer-Collected Payments?

This guide walks you through the setup process for when you, the photographer, are the selling entity in the store.

Overview

When you choose to collect payments as the photographer, Pass can still automate the production of print products. However, you become the selling entity for the order and are responsible for all aspects of sales tax and payment handling.

  • Payment Handling: When your client places an order, the full payment is deposited into your selected payment gateway (Stripe, PayPal, Square, or Offline). The production and shipping costs for the order are then charged to your payment method on file under Plans & Billing.
  • Lab Fulfillment: Photographers can choose to self-fulfill items or use labs integrated with the Pass system.

Benefits of Collecting Payments as a Photographer:

  • Use a currency other than USD.
  • Self-fulfill products in the store (not available on Free and Beginner Plans).
  • Collect payments directly.
  • Avoid sales commission fees (except for Free and Beginner Plans, which have a 15% commission).
  • Adjust sales tax rates.
  • Receive quicker deposits.
  • Order confirmation emails are branded with your logo and details.

Setup Instructions

  1. Access Settings:
    From the Main Dashboard, click Settings.

  2. Adjust Store Settings:
    Under the Store Settings tab, click Setup.

  3. Set Payment Collection:

    • Under Payment Collected By, select Me (Photographer).
    • Choose your preferred payment method: PayPal, Stripe, or Offline.

Payment Gateway Setup

PayPal

  1. Select PayPal and click Setup.
  2. Log in to your PayPal Business account via the Developer Dashboard.
  3. Go to API Credentials and toggle to Live.
  4. Click Create App and name it.
  5. Copy the Client ID and the Secret Key (click Show to view it).
  6. Paste these credentials into the PayPal Setup window in Pass and click Apply.

Stripe

  1. Select Stripe and click Setup.
  2. Enter your Stripe login credentials in the pop-up window.
  3. Once logged in, your Stripe account will connect automatically

Offline Payments

  1. Select Offline if you prefer to accept cash, checks, or other payment methods. Click Setup.
  2. Enter a message for your clients explaining how they should submit payment.
  3. Click Apply to save your settings.

Multiple Payment Options

  • Your first payment setup will be marked as the default.
  • At checkout, clients will select their preferred payment method.
