We are migrating Pass Classic galleries before officially sunsetting the platform on June 30, 2024.
Why are you migrating Pass Classic Galleries?
After more than 13 years since it was first unveiled (and almost 7 years since Pass+ was launched), we are officially sunsetting Pass Classic. When the platform is sunset, all account info, including galleries and photos will become become inaccessible via the Pass Classic app and its web interface.
For more background on the shutdown of the Pass Classic platform, read this blog post from CEO Trevor Houghton.
How can I request a migration?
You will automatically be queued for a complimentary migration if you meet all of the following criteria:
- You have a current paid subscription to Pass+.
- You have a Pass Classic account registered with the same email address as your Pass+ account.
- You have logged in to either Pass Classic or Pass+ since January 1, 2022.
If you do not meet all three of these criteria and would like to request a migration, please take 30 seconds to fill out our migration request form.
How does the migration work?
Once you sign up, it will take somewhere between a few days and a few weeks. We will:
- Transfer all your galleries, including the Title, Cover Image, the VIP client emails, and all of its high res photos.
- Once in Pass+, the VIP client emails will become the main "client" in the gallery's sharing section. If the Pass Classic gallery had no VIPs, your email will be used.
- Create "Classic Migration" Automation that notifies the migrated VIP client(s) that the gallery has a new URL. Due to several requests, we will no longer activate this campaign by default. The campaign will be created in your account, and you may activate it by selecting galleries with "Classic Migration" as an event type.
As we migrate your galleries, we'll keep you posted via email on the expected timeline of the migration. We are committed to offering a complimentary migration to every paying Pass+ subscriber with a Pass Classic account, plus some qualifying Pass Classic users.

Will my galleries be migrated automatically if I don't request a migration?
No. If you don’t meet all three criteria above, you must request a migration. You can do so by completing this form. You must request a migration prior to April 30th in order to have them migrated to Pass+.
Will the migration work if I don't have a Pass+ account?
Yes. If you do not currently have a Pass+ account, one will be created for your automatically during the migration. You will receive an email notification when the account is created, and will be required to change your password upon logging in for the first time.
How long will my Pass Classic galleries be available?
Pass Classic galleries that are migrated to Pass+ will remain online until their expiration date, at which point they will enter a systematic purge process.
Pass Classic galleries that are not migrated to Pass+ will become inaccessible via a web browser when the platform is shut down on June 30, 2024. After that date, galleries will be available upon request to our support team.
All Pass Classic Galleries, whether migrated on un-migrated, will be deleted on their expiration date.
How will galleries migrated from Pass Classic affect my storage limits on Pass+?
All galleries on Pass+ are subject to account storage limits, including those migrated from Pass Classic. However, galleries migrated from Pass Classic will count for only 10% of their actual storage once they are migrated to Pass+.
For example, if you have 100 galleries with a total of 100GB of storage on Pass Classic, those galleries will count for 10GB of storage against your Pass+ storage limit once they are migrated.
You can always view your storage details by navigating to Settings > Storage or by clicking this link.
What happens if the migrated galleries cause me to exceed my storage limit?
When your account exceeds its storage limit, two things happen:
- All new uploads are blocked.
- After 30 days, galleries will be deleted (oldest first) until your account is within its storage limit.
How do I get my account back to within its storage limit?
There are two simple ways to get your account within its storage limit:
- Upgrade your plan. You can find your current plan by navigating to Settings > Plans & Billing, or change plans easily by clicking here.
- Remove galleries. You can easily delete unneeded galleries from within the storage section of your account.
We always recommend using the Gallery Expiration automation before deleting galleries. The automation notifies your clients that the gallery will be moved offline. To enable the Gallery Expiration automation, navigate to Sales Campaigns > Automations or simily click here.
Will my Pass Classic galleries be deleted?
No. Pass Classic galleries will not be deleted prior to their expiration date. However, once the Pass Classic platform is sunset, all un-migrated galleries will become inaccessible via a web browser (the gallery link will no longer work).
After June 30, galleries will be made available within 48 hours of a request submitted to our support team.
All Pass Classic Galleries, whether migrated on un-migrated, will be deleted on their expiration date.
I thought gallery hosting lasted for 10 years and included access via the web. When did that change?
We understand that many expected their galleries to remain available at the same URL for 10 years from the date of upload. Technical limitations prevent us from maintaining the Pass Classic infrastructure. We will sunset that platform on June 30, 2024.
However, we are committed to honoring the 10 year storage guarantee. We will accommodate retrieval requests for any gallery prior to its expiration date. Retrieval will be guaranteed within two business days following a request to our support team.
I promised my clients that their photos would be online for 10 years. What should I do?
You have a couple options:
- Migrate your galleries to Pass+. From there, you may:
- Use the Classic Migration App. This will notify the clients.
- Use a Gallery Expiration app. Automatically notify your clients that their gallery will expire soon and encourage them to make a last-minute purchase.
- Download your galleries and downsize. Use our native Dropbox or Google Drive connector to back-up your galleries with a low-cost cloud-hosing tool. Then, you can delete galleries from within your account dashboard.
- Do Nothing. Your galleries will remain in long-term storage. When you need to retrieve a gallery, email help@passgallery.com with the following information:
- URL of the gallery in question
- Email address of the gallery owner
- Gallery password (if the gallery is private)
What if my Pass+ login email is different from my Pass Classic login email?
If you used different email addresses to register for Pass+ and Pass Classic, you must request a migration by completing this form. If you do not request a migration, your galleries will become inaccessible via a browser when we sunset Pass Classic on June 30, 2024.
How do I know if my galleries are saved on Pass Classic or Pass+?
If the gallery URL contains "pass.us" it is on Pass Classic. If the gallery URL contains "passgallery.com" it is Pass+.
How long will it take to migrate my galleries?
Depending on our backlog, it may take up to 4-8 weeks. Once you are signed up, we will proactively communicate the expected timeframe with you.
I don’t want my old galleries to count against my storage. How do I opt out of the migration?
You may opt out of this migration by replying to this email or contacting us at migration@passgallery.com. If you opt out, your Pass Classic galleries will become inaccessible when we officially sunset that platform on June 30, 2024. No galleries on Pass+ will be deleted during this process.
How will I notify my clients that their galleries have been migrated?
During our migration process, you will notice an automation called "Classic Migration" applied to the galleries migrated from Pass Classic. Activating this automation will notify your clients of their new gallery URL. If you’d like to edit this campaign, you may do so once the migration preparation has begun. You can find this and other automations by navigating to Sales Campaigns > Automations or by simply clicking here.
Can I opt out of the migration and keep my galleries on Pass Classic?
Unfortunately no; we will be fully sunsetting Pass Classic, which means there will be no future access to unmigrated galleries.
Can I just migrate some (but not all) of my Pass Classic galleries?
Unfortunately, our migration process can only accommodate a full account migration. If only a few galleries are important to you, try downloading just those galleries from Pass Classic and then declining a migration.
Can I download galleries from Pass Classic?
Downloading galleries works best from Pass+. Once your galleries are migrated to Pass+, they will be available for download. In some cases, you may have to wait 6-12 hours for high-res downloads to be retrieved from cold storage. Once retrieved, you can easily download the files to your local hard drive, or enable seamless transfer them to Dropbox or Google Drive via Pass’s native connections.
Can I retrieve the names / email addresses of my clients so that I can notify them?
You may request the list of your Pass Classic galleries and their associated client information by contacting us at migration@passgallery.com.
What if I manually uploaded my Pass Classic galleries to Pass+ already
If you have manually uploaded any galleries that are in your PASS Classic into PASS+ you will see the gallery twice in your PASS+ account. If you do not want this to happen, you may opt out of the migration by completing this form.
Why do I see alerts in my account that old galleries are uploading?
While the upload portion of the migration of your Classic galleries in process, you will see notifications that those uploads are in process. During that time, you may temporarily experience a delay when attempting to create or upload a new gallery.
Will the cover photo of the migrated gallery match that of the Pass Classic gallery?
Some cover photos from PASS Classic do not migrate to PASS Plus and a different cover photo is selected. You can change this after the migration is complete, but be aware some cover photos might not be the same after the migration.
I still have questions. How can I talk to someone?
For any additional questions, please email migration@passgallery.com.
