Deleting a photo from your gallery can impact other areas where the image is used, such as blogs, slideshows, and orders. Below is a guide on how to delete a photo and what to expect when you do.
How to Delete Photos from a Gallery
- In your gallery’s Photos tab, select the image(s) you want to delete.
- A Selected Items menu will appear at the top. Click Manage Photos and select Delete from the drop-down menu.
Important: Before deleting an image, check where it is being used to avoid affecting slideshows, blogs, or client orders.
What Happens When an Image Is Deleted?
Slideshows
- Deleting a photo from a gallery does not automatically remove it from any slideshows that include it.
- The deleted photo will still appear in the slideshow as it was when originally published.
- To update a slideshow, manually edit it in the Slideshow editor and remove the image.
Blogs
- Deleting a photo from a gallery does not remove it from any blog posts.
- The deleted photo will still be displayed in the blog as it was when originally published.
- To update a blog, manually edit it in the Blog editor and remove the image.
- Once the photo is removed, changes will be reflected automatically anywhere the blog is embedded—no need to regenerate the embed code.
Orders
- Deleting photos that are part of an order (on hold, processing, or recently shipped) can cause significant issues.
- If a deleted image is replaced with another file of the same filename, any on-hold orders will be updated automatically.
- If a deleted image was part of an on-hold or processing order, it will trigger a "Deleted Photos" error, preventing the order from moving forward.
- To resolve this error, reupload the photo with the same filename and select Replace.
- If an order has already shipped, deleting the photo may cause issues with future updates or reorders.
Important: To avoid disruptions, do not delete any photos associated with orders unless you are certain they are no longer needed.
