How Do I Get a HAR File?

If Pass Support asks you to provide a HAR file, follow the instructions below based on the browser you’re using. A HAR file helps diagnose technical issues by capturing detailed information about network activity.

On Chrome or Chromium-Based Browsers:

  1. Right-click anywhere on the page and select Inspect.
  2. Navigate to the Network tab.
  3. Ensure that network traffic is recording, then clear the existing information in the Network tab.
  4. Refresh the page (unless instructed otherwise) and reproduce the issue. Once done, click the Export HAR button (a downward-facing arrow).
  5. Save the HAR file somewhere easy to locate, such as your Desktop or Downloads folder.
  6. Follow the steps in the "Get Console Logs" section below to also capture your Console Logs.

On Safari:

  1. Ensure Developer Mode is enabled:

    • Go to Safari > Preferences.
    • Navigate to the Advanced tab and check the box for Show Develop menu in menu bar.
  2. Open Pass and go to Develop > Show Web Inspector.

  3. In the Network tab, clear the existing information, refresh the page, and reproduce the issue.

    • Click Export to save the HAR file.

    • Save the HAR file to an easy-to-find location, such as your Desktop or Downloads folder

On Firefox:

  1. Open Firefox's Network Monitor by right-clicking anywhere on the page and selecting Inspect.
  2. The Developer Tools will open. Click the Network tab. Recording will start automatically when you interact with the browser then refresh the page and reproduce the issue while Firefox is recording.
  3. After reproducing the issue, right-click anywhere under the File column and select Save all as HAR.
  4. Save the HAR file to an easy-to-find location, such as your Desktop or Downloads folder.
  5. Follow the steps in the "Get Console Logs" section below to also capture your Console Logs.

On Microsoft Edge:

  1. Open Edge and right-click anywhere on the page, then select Inspect.
  2. Go to the Network tab and start recording by clicking the circular icon (or use the shortcut CTRL + E). The button will turn red, indicating recording has started. Ensure Preserve Log is checked.
  3. Reproduce the issue, then stop recording by clicking the same button.
  4. Once the actions are recorded, click Export HAR... (an arrow pointing downward to a line).
  5. Save the HAR file to an easy-to-find location, such as your Desktop or Downloads folder.
  6. Follow the steps in the "Get Console Logs" section below to also capture your Console Logs.

Get Console Logs

In addition to the HAR file, Pass Support will need the Console Logs from your browser.

  1. Open the Console tab in your browser’s developer tools.
  2. Right-click on any of the lines in the Console tab and select Save As....
  3. Save the Console Logs file in the same location as the HAR file.
  4. Send both the HAR file and the Console Logs file to Pass Support via email or your support conversation.
