How Do I Resolve the Low-Resolution Warning?

If you see a low-resolution warning in Pass, it means an image may not be suitable for printing. This can happen in two scenarios, and this guide will help you resolve the issue.

1. Low Resolution When Uploading Images

If you see a warning during upload, it means the image is less than 2000px on the long edge.

Solution

To ensure your images meet print quality standards:
✔️ Calculate the required pixel dimensions (300 DPI).
✔️ Export images at the correct resolution from your editing software.
✔️ Check file dimensions before uploading to Pass.

2. Low Resolution in the Store When Selecting Prints

If a low-resolution warning appears when selecting images for print products, the image resolution is too low for the chosen size.

Solution

✔️ Advise clients not to print flagged images, as prints may appear blurry or pixelated.
✔️ Suggest smaller print sizes or upload a higher-resolution version that meets print requirements.

Note: The maximum file dimensions for Pass are 12,000 x 12,000 pixels, and the maximum file size is 100MB. Files exceeding these limits cannot be uploaded.

Recommended Resolution for Printing

Images should be uploaded at 300 DPI (dots per inch). Multiply 300 by the print dimensions to get the required pixel size:

  • 4x6 print1,200 x 1,800 pixels (4 × 300 = 1,200 and 6 × 300 = 1,800)
  • 8x10 print2,400 x 3,000 pixels (8 × 300 = 2,400 and 10 × 300 = 3,000)

How to Check Image Resolution

You can quickly check an image’s resolution on your computer.

On Mac

1. Right-click the file in Finder.
2. Select Get Info.
3. Check the Dimensions field.

On Windows

1. Right-click the file in File Explorer.
2. Select Properties.
3. Go to the Details tab and check the Image Dimensions field.

By following these steps, you can resolve low-resolution warnings and ensure high-quality prints for your clients! 🚀
