Subscribers' Guide to the Purge Sequence and Purge Candidate State

In this guide, we will explain the Purge Sequence and the Purge Candidate state, essential concepts for subscribers to effectively manage their storage and data.

Purge Sequence

The Purge Sequence is a series of actions and alerts that occur when your storage space nears its maximum capacity. Here's how it works:

1.) Day 1 Storage Overflow Email

When your storage space reaches its limit, you will receive a "Storage Overflow" email notification. This serves as an early warning to prompt you to take action to manage your storage space efficiently.

2.) 4 Account Downsizing Alerts (within a 45-day period)

In the 45 days following the initial Storage Overflow email, you will receive a series of downsizing alerts via email. These alerts are designed to help you gradually reduce your storage space and avoid data loss. The alerts occur at specific intervals:

  • 45 days
  • 30 days
  • 7 days
  • 3 days

3.) After 45 days, the galleries go to Purge Candidate state

If no action is taken to reduce your storage within 45 days of the initial Storage Overflow email, your galleries will transition to the "Purge Candidate" state. During this phase:

  • CS Team Assistance: The Customer Support (CS) team may still be able to recover your galleries, but it requires intervention. They can assist with retrieving your galleries during this phase.
  • Photographer Action: Photographers must take the initiative to contact the CS team and request the recovery of their galleries. It is essential to reach out and initiate this process.

Purge Candidate Overview

The Purge Candidate state is a crucial stage in the management of your storage space. Here's what you need to know:

  • Deletion by Reverse-Chronology: Galleries in the Purge Candidate state are deleted in reverse-chronological order. This means that the oldest galleries are deleted first until your storage space is reduced to meet the plan limit.
  • Plan Limit Consideration: The same process applies if you switch between different subscription plans. For instance, if you are transitioning from a Standard plan to a Beginner plan with a different storage limit, your galleries will be deleted until your storage matches the new plan's limit.

In summary, the Purge Sequence is a set of alerts and actions designed to help you effectively manage your storage space. If you do not take action within 45 days, your galleries will enter the Purge Candidate state, where the CS team can assist in recovering them, provided you reach out to them.

To ensure the safety and accessibility of your data, we recommend regularly monitoring your storage space, following the downsizing alerts, and taking timely action to prevent your galleries from entering the Purge Candidate state. By doing so, you can maintain an organized and efficient storage system.
