What is the Image Optimizer on the Uploader App?

Does the image optimizer affect the quality of my images?

Pass+ integrates an image optimizer directly into the Uploader app, eliminating the need for external programs like JPEGmini. This feature enhances upload and download speeds by reducing the image file size through repackaging.

Similar to JPEGmini or the quality export settings in photo programs, the optimizer improves file packaging and removes unnecessary data without altering your image's resolution (dpi/ppi) or dimensions (pixel count). It compresses each photo using various JPG parameters, comparing the results to the original image to select the best compression with no visible quality loss. The optimized files remain perfect for printing and maintain the same resolution and pixel dimensions as the originals. This results in faster uploads for you and quicker downloads for your clients. You can observe this effect by downloading an uploaded photo and comparing it to your original high-resolution image.

If you already use JPEGmini or similar optimizers on your images, the Uploader will bypass the optimization process.

If you prefer to disable the optimizer, contact our support team at help@passgallery.com, and a team member will remove it from your account. However, note that this will reduce upload and download speeds.
