How to Control How Visitors' Consent is Requested for Marketing Emails

When visitors enter a gallery or create an account, they are prompted to opt in or out of receiving marketing emails. These emails typically include updates about gallery discounts or Sales Campaigns.

You can customize how consent is requested with three available settings. Here's how to change the consent request process.

Changing Consent Request Settings

  1. From your Main Dashboard, click Settings.
  2. Under the Brand & Style tab, locate the Opt In/Out Policy for New Visitors dropdown.

  1. Opt-Out
    • Visitors see a checkbox labeled “Receive updates and discounts about this gallery,” which is ticked by default.
    • This is the default setting in Pass.
    • Visitors can uncheck the box if they do not wish to receive marketing emails.
Example: The checkbox is ticked by default for new visitors.

  1. Opt-In

    • The checkbox is unticked by default, and visitors must manually check it to receive marketing emails.
    • Recommended for compliance in regions where consent must be explicitly given.
    • Note: Some countries mandate Opt-In policies. Verify local regulations to ensure compliance.

Example: The checkbox appears unticked by default for new visitors.

  1. Hide the Opt-In/Out Checkbox

    • The checkbox is not displayed during account creation or gallery entry. Visitors are automatically signed up to receive marketing emails.
    • Visitors can still manage their email preferences in their account settings.
    • Important: This option should not be used if your gallery caters to EU customers to remain GDPR-compliant.

Example: The checkbox is removed, so visitors cannot opt in or out at sign-up.

Consent for Guests Not Required to Provide Email

  • If email collection is not mandatory for gallery entry and the checkbox is not hidden, visitors can opt in or out when prompted to create an account (e.g., for making purchases or favoriting photos).

Regardless of the chosen setting, visitors can always manage their consent by opting in or out of marketing emails through their account settings.
